If the compass is spinning wildly it can indicate that you are currently feeling somewhat lost in life. Most times this will be lost in a spiritual sense but not always. Usually you will recognize the relevance and know what it applies to.
Sometimes the compass will point in a particular direction and it may be that you need to head in that direction in reality. For instance, if you were thinking of moving to a city to the north of your current location for work but have not been able to decide on it for sure, then the compass pointing in that direction is a good clue to it being a beneficial move.
Occasionally the compass might point to something within the dream itself. This may be an object that should have some relevance to you or your situation. Sometimes it might point to an individual. If you know them this could mean that you have unresolved issues with that person or that you should get in touch with them.
If you don't know them then you should be on the llokout for that person in your waking life. It might be an indication of a love connection or that this person might be able to help you in some way. Possibly a job offer or something like that.
