The Empress Tarot Notes and Thoughts by Talisman

Not Your Average King or Queen!

For those that don't know the Empress is royalty and all that that entails and personifies. Think back through history to the kings and queens that have lived and you will find that by and large they were strong figures. You didn't get to stay in power by being weak.

And so it is with the Empress for she is a strong and strong-minded individual. There is perhaps one major difference between her and her historical brethren and that is compassion and love. Although some kings and queens may have loved their subjects many did not.

The Empress is full of love. Of people. Of life. Of everything. That doesn't mean though that she is blinded by love. She isn't for she is a smart woman.

The Empress is an interesting card and she is, in many ways, the archetypal female if not the epitome of femininity. But as I stated at the beginning she is strong - don't make the mistake of thinking she is weak because she is female and feminine.

She is also a maternal figure and for that reason she is strongly associated with pregnancy. If you want children and you're asking the Tarot if it will happen then she is a card you should be happy to see.

That doesn't mean though that she should always be associated with pregnancy no matter what your question is. She is definitely strongly associated with giving birth but that doesn't have to mean children.

The birth of an idea, or a business, even just simply a new chapter in your life could all be part of what she is trying to tell you when she appears.

Overall I would consider her to be a very positive card but don't confuse her with a wish card. Her appearance doesn't mean that you will suddenly get everything you want because you won't I'm afraid. Some of your wishes and wants may well be fulfilled but it's not likely that they all will.

In many ways she will signify that you are on the right track and that the universe is, perhaps, somewhat more benevolent than you think it is. Although she does indicate positive times she is also a reminder that you should be thankful for what you have rather than what you don't have.
