On the Tarot Road to Adventure With the Fool
To my way of thinking the Fool very much evokes a vision of adventure. In some decks the Fool is drawn with the stereotypical bag of belongings tied to a walking stick. The Fool has sort of taken off to see the world, even if he/she is not going to get any further than the next town over.
Many people dislike change, and many would freeze in their tracks if they were required to go out on their own and develop all new relationships in their lives. But the thing is that most of us are quite capable of doing more and being more than we generally think.
The Fool urges us on. It essentially says: "Choose a path, any path, and know that they all eventually lead to the proverbial top of the mountain." Provided you actually take a step on the path, you will indeed get where you want to go.
Of course that doesn’t mean that everything is going to be flawless indefinitely and that you don’t have to try to make things happen because you absolutely do. But it tells you that you mustn't dread this next phase of your life and that you can and should approach it like another adventure.
Some people say that every time we step out on faith, or when we are childlike, the entire unseen universe acts to protect us. It may well be the case!
If you are in the position where your thoughts, feelings, and behavior affect others directly, it’s more important than usual to bear that in mind when you draw the Fool. Other people are going to need you to hold your head up and make a conscious effort to think the best, most positive thoughts that you can.
It’s easy to dismiss such admonitions and to think that The Fool is really about just being silly, behaving like a child, or not having due diligence.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Sometimes what a situation needs is a change of venue or a change in approach. That’s what the Fool is pointing at. Have a new adventure. They come in all shapes and sizes.
